Due to legislation and adjudication in this area, over the last century or more, in most Muslim countries, the important principles of the traditional law have become blurred or obscure. It is, therefore, our endeavor in this particular course to bring out the vital issues of traditional Islamic family law, so that viewers can appreciate this law in its original purity, while those who are acquainted with modern developments in this area are able to recognize the changes that have taken place. As is the method in most courses of the Islamic Law School, the vital issues are highlighted in such a way that they can easily lay the foundation for further research.
